Nachtsheim Family Story
Hello Everyone,
I am reaching out to all my families and friends. Some of you know the story, some may not know the whole story. My Sister-In-Laws family desperately needs any help they can get.
Here is a brief overview of there story.
In June Melissa (Brocks Sister) and her husband Martin gave birth to a premature baby. He was 1lb 15 oz, 10 weeks early. Beyond his struggles as a preemie he also has some brain damage from a brain bleed at birth. They do not and may not know the effects of this until later on in his life as he starts to develop. He has been home for awhile now and is thriving.
Unfortunately before Thanksgiving Melissa became very ill. Earlier this month she was diagnosed with a very rare form of a blood cancer, JAK2, they believe this has also caused a clotting disorder which has in turn given her an also very rare liver disease. There is treatment for her type of cancer but no cure. They know very little about this cancer as it is very rare. Only 1 in a million has this and it was only discovered about 10 years ago. She has been in and out of the hospital for months and now has many appointments for her treatment and testing each week.
If that wasnâ??t bad enough. Her husband, whom has been the person to take care of her, driving her back and forth to the hospital, appointments, etc. AND take care of the kids, Lincoln (baby) and her other son Taylor (12), not to mention do the grocery shopping, run the household and try to work full time to support everyone was in an accident last night.
He was hit head on by an erratic driver on SR 410 yesterday on his way home from work. The driver whom caused the accident was pronounced dead at the scene. Martin was taken to Good Sam and later transferred to Harbor View. Along with other injuries, his whole left leg is severely injured and he currently is in the middle of an 8 hour surgery to just repair his hip and femur. He will himself have a very long recovery ahead of him.
We are trying to organize a benefit to help with all the financial burdens the whole family has. Medical bills, household bills, food, gas, you name it. Money and paying the bills should be the last thing this family should have to worry about right now. If you or if any one know would like to help please feel free to donate to Nachtsheim Family Fund at Chase Bank. I will also be sending another email of the benefit time and place if you'd like to attend.
Thank you so much for all the help, concern and well wishes!!!
Love,
Bree Metzger =D
UPDATE:
Martin made it out of surgery with 2 plates holding his leg together. He will have a very long road of recovery ahead of him including 3 MONTHS of NO weight bearing on his leg. And many more months of rehab.
